Drawing
Everything starts with a drawing: proportions, thicknesses and details are settled before the metal is touched.
Jewellery & GoldsmithingGondomar · Portugal
We make gold and silver jewellery in Gondomar — from wax to casting, from stone setting to polishing, without forgetting our 100% handmade filigree.
In Gondomar, the capital of Portuguese goldsmithing, a jewel passes through many hands before it reaches the person who will wear it. At Celior, those hands work gold and silver from the wax to the final polish. Filigree, made by hand the way tradition demands, is part of who we are — but it is far from all we do.
01 — The Workshop
A jewel is born in stages. Follow a ring from the first line to the final shine.
Everything starts with a drawing: proportions, thicknesses and details are settled before the metal is touched.
From the model comes a mould; from the mould, the waxes — injected one by one and gathered on a tree, ready for casting.
The tree is set in a flask of investment, the wax burns out in the kiln and gold or silver takes its place. When the investment is broken away, the tree emerges in metal.

Under the loupe, stone by stone: prongs, pavé, bezel. Each stone is seated and secured by hand, at the bench.
Cutting, filing, soldering, polishing, ultrasonic cleaning and steam. Each piece passes through many hands until the shine is just right — only then does it leave the workshop.

03 — The tradition
Filigree is the art of twisting two very fine wires of gold or silver, flattening them and using them to fill metal frames, until the piece looks like lace. Practised in Gondomar since the 18th century, it has become the craft that defines the town.
At Celior, filigree is 100% handmade. We are a member workshop of the Filigrana de Portugal mark, created by the municipalities of Gondomar and Póvoa de Lanhoso to certify handcrafted production and protect it from industrial imitations.
